Welcome to the Furgiving Foundation, a transformative initiative based at the Idaho Correctional Institution Orofino (ICIO). As a nonprofit organization, we are dedicated to empowering incarcerated individuals by giving them the opportunity to train dogs for a variety of tasks—allowing their hard work to make a meaningful impact in the community.
At the Furgiving Foundation, we believe in the power of second chances—for incarcerated individuals who gain personal growth and purpose through training dogs, for recipients who find life-changing companionship, and for K9s in search of their forever homes. Our program is designed to not only provide individuals with a well-trained dog to assist with daily life but also to support the inmate trainers on their journey of rehabilitation, responsibility, and renewal.
In partnership with the ICIO PAWS program, we carefully match dogs with recipients and tailor their training to meet individual needs. Each K9 graduates from our program with Canine Good Citizen (CGC) training, ensuring they have a solid foundation for any additional service dog training they may pursue.
