Welcome to The Furgiving Foundation!
The Furgiving Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Priest River, Idaho, committed to transforming lives through the training and placement of highly skilled dogs. In collaboration with the Idaho Correctional Institution–Orofino (ICIO) and the PAWS Program (Paroling Animals With Skills), we work to create second chances for rescue dogs, incarcerated individuals, and recipients across our communities.
Our mission is twofold:
· To provide specially trained dogs that offer meaningful support and companionship to individuals with disabilities or unique needs.
· To foster rehabilitation and personal development among incarcerated individuals through structured dog training, responsibility, and service.
Each dog in our program receives focused public access and service training, working toward successfully passing the PAWS Public Access Test—a key milestone that ensures dogs are confident, stable, and ready to work in real-world environments. While not formally certified through the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program, our dogs leave CGC-ready with the foundational skills necessary for further specialization or certification if desired.

At the Furgiving Foundation our mission is simple: we take dogs in need of loving homes and train them to become devoted companions and helpers for individuals who rely on them every day. At the same time, we give incarcerated individuals the chance to grow, learn responsibility, and develop empathy through the meaningful work of dog training.
